Our Company

ClearStak, LLC is a privately held environmental testing lab located in Willington, Connecticut. ClearStak received EPA Accreditation of the lab in Fall of 2016. The lab is focused on partial thermal storage testing for hydronic heaters using biomass products for fuel. Combining both dilution tunnel testing and hand held particulate testing equipment, ClearStak provides a full picture of emissions for biomass appliance manufacturers.

 

ClearStak aims to be the leading testing facility in the biomass industry by not only offering quality results, but also transparent testing services through the use of several customer-friendly features.

Meet the Team
 

John Schneider (Managing Partner) has over 35 years of experience in the air quality engineering, monitoring, and consulting field. He is responsible for the implementation, staffing and support of all air projects, as well as coordination with local, state and federal regulatory agencies.

 

Ethan Berriault (Lab Manager) has been conducting residential wood heaters testing for the last year at ClearStak. Ethan has a MS in Environmental Management and has been at ClearStak since graduation. Ethan’s project responsibilities include the daily management of all lab activities for conducting official testing. Ethan is also responsible for the ensuring strict adherence to the labs QA/QC requirements and completing all of the lab data analysis and reporting.

Brian Vinal (Test Technician) has conducted residential wood heater testing since 2015 and is responsible for equipment management, running all testing activities, and sample recoveries. Prior to ClearStak, Brian supported stack testing at Air Tox Environmental.

 

Bethany Chalmers (Senior Scientist) brings over 21 years of experience in air emissions testing and regulatory compliance to the project. Her career has included progressive roles such as Stack Testing Technician, Lead Technician, Project Manager for Stack Testing Programs, and Project Manager for Regulatory Compliance and Reporting.  Bethany supports all laboratory testing efforts and serve as the QA/QC Manager, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of all field data collected. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Bates College.
